What are Irish feelings towards Americans who are proud of their Irish roots?

I think they are alright with it until you begin to act like you are equally as Irish as someone who was born there and raised there. So long as you are first American and then Irish I believe it is not a problem, but some Irish may not agree. I am German and there are Americans who do and say abhorrent **** and excuse it by claiming to have "some German in my heritage" and those people disgust me. But if someone is decent and just proud to have German ancestors, that is fine.
